Biography

Meet Moritz, a passionate musician, educator, and conductor based in the Netherlands and Germany’s Ruhr Area. With jazz at his core and a love for musical diversity, he brings a unique voice to today’s music scene. His sound is shaped by curiosity, blending jazz’s rich tradition with modern influences.

 

As a trombonist and pianist, Moritz moves between worlds—rooted in jazz, yet embracing global sounds. His music is a journey through harmony and rhythm, always seeking warmth, depth, and connection. Whether on stage or in the studio, he creates moments that invite listeners into his musical universe.

Musikschule Bottrop

After graduating, Moritz volunteered at Musikschule Bottrop - taking a step into music education. Main tasks were assisting in lessons to music students of all ages. His final project was composing for the B12 Art Gallery.

Afterwards, Moritz  began his job as main subject trombone teacher at that very place. Apart from private students he teaches for JeKits at Nikolaus-Groß- and Albert Schweitzer Grundschule and Grasedieck Foundation at Heinrich Heine Gymnasium and Janusz Korczak Gesamtschule. His subjects are: trombone, trumpet, keyboard.

Jazz & Pop Bachelor

ArtEZ University of the Arts

Arnhem

Moritz started studying trombone at ArtEZ with Jilt Jansma as his teacher. Next to engagement in various bands, he visits courses in business and education, as well as a minor in Jazz Piano led by Henrique Gomide.

On Stage

Moritz is a trombonist and pianist specialised in jazz and world music with experience in duos, big bands, jazz combos,  horn secions, dance orchestras, salsa bands, brass bands/harmonie. He is songwriting for his own projects in the realms of contemporary jazz and arranges music of all styles for big band.
